Short answer: In the Base44 vs Lovable choice, pick Base44 if you want an all-in-one builder with hosting, database and sign-in included. Paid plans start at $16 a month billed annually. Pick Lovable if you want code you can edit and sync to GitHub, with paid plans from $25 a month billed monthly. Both have a free plan, so build the same small app in each before you pay.
Both tools turn a plain-English description into a working app. You can read the full pricing on our Lovable page. Base44 has no page on Klyvoo yet, so every Base44 fact below comes from base44.com. This post puts the two side by side so you can see where they differ.

What is Base44?
Base44 describes itself as a no-code AI platform for building apps, websites and AI agents. You describe what you want and it builds the design, the data and the features. A managed backend, user sign-in, integrations and hosting come with it, so there is no separate service to set up. It also connects to tools such as Google Calendar, Gmail, Slack, Notion, HubSpot and Salesforce.
The site footer carries the notice of Wix.com Ltd, so this is a product from a large, established company rather than a small side project. For a non-coder, the appeal is that nothing is left for you to wire together.
What is Lovable?
Lovable calls itself a full-stack AI development platform. You describe an app in natural language and it generates the frontend, backend, database, sign-in and integrations, all backed by editable code. Every project can sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, so the code can leave Lovable whenever you want it to.
That makes it a good fit if a developer may pick the project up later. For a wider look at the category, our guide to vibe coding explains the idea behind these tools.
Base44 vs Lovable pricing
Credits decide the real cost of both tools, so read the plan before you subscribe.
Base44 pricing
| Plan | Price | Message credits a month | Integration credits a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 25 | 100 |
| Starter | $16 a month, billed annually | 100 | 2,000 |
| Builder | $40 a month, billed annually | 250 | 10,000 |
| Pro | $80 a month, billed annually | 500 | 20,000 |
| Elite | $160 a month, billed annually | 1,200 | 50,000 |
Base44’s pricing page lists only the annual price for each paid plan. It says annual billing saves 20% on every paid plan, so monthly billing costs more, but it does not print the monthly figure. Check the page before you pick monthly billing.
Base44 describes credits as your monthly allowance for AI messages and integration actions. Usage varies by action and by the AI model. Starter and up add unlimited apps, in-app code edits and a custom domain with one free domain for a year. Builder adds AI model select and GitHub integration. Pro adds early access to beta features and Elite adds premium support.
Lovable pricing
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month |
| Pro | $25 a month | $250 a year ($21 a month) | 100 a month on the entry tier, plus 5 a day |
| Business | $50 a month | $500 a year ($42 a month) | 100 a month on the entry tier, plus 5 a day |
| Enterprise | Contract | Contract | Volume-based |
Both paid plans scale up to larger credit tiers, up to 10,000 credits a month. Pro adds code editing, custom domains and top-ups, which the free plan does not have. Business adds single sign-on. Lovable says annual billing gives two months free compared with paying monthly.
Which one costs less?
On annual billing Base44 starts $5 a month cheaper than Lovable ($16 against $21). On monthly billing you cannot compare the two directly, because Base44 does not print its monthly price. The two also meter usage differently. Base44 splits it into message credits and integration credits. Lovable uses one pool of build credits plus a small daily grant. Build the same small app in each and watch which meter moves slower.
How credits work in practice
Lovable’s free plan resets every day: you get 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month. Unused daily credits expire at the end of the day. Paid plans add a monthly pool on top of the daily grant, and the daily grant has no monthly cap on Pro or Business. Monthly plan credits expire two months after they are issued.
Base44 gives you a fixed monthly allowance instead. The free plan has 25 message credits, which is a small number, so expect to hit the limit during a real build. Its pricing page does not say whether unused credits carry over, so plan on using them within the month. The separate integration credits matter if your app calls outside services often.
A fair way to test both
Do not judge either tool on its first screen. Use the same short brief in each, for example a booking page with a form, a database table and a confirmation email. Then compare three things: how many credits the first working version used, how many follow-up messages it took to fix the problems, and whether you can see and understand the code. Ten minutes of that tells you more than any review, ours included.
Where Base44 wins
- Everything in one place. Hosting, backend, database and sign-in are built in, so there is nothing to connect.
- A lower entry price on annual billing. Starter is $16 a month billed annually.
- Ready-made integrations. Gmail, Slack, Notion, HubSpot and Salesforce are listed on its site.
- Apps and agents. It builds AI agents as well as apps and websites.
Where Lovable wins
- Code you can take with you. Git sync is on every plan, including free. On Base44 GitHub integration starts at the Builder plan.
- Editable code. Pro lets you edit and download the code behind your app.
- Clear monthly prices. You can see what a month costs without committing to a year.
- A simpler screen. There is less to configure, which suits designers and founders.
What neither does
Neither tool replaces a developer on a large product. Both can make mistakes, and neither guarantees that the code is secure, so read it before you collect payments or user data. If your work lives in a big existing codebase, a coding agent such as Cursor fits better. Our guide to Cursor vs Claude Code shows how two of those differ. - You want to pay month to month at a known price: Lovable Pro, at $25 a month.
- You are not sure: start both on the free plans with the same prompt and compare the results.

Is Base44 or Lovable cheaper?
On annual billing Base44 Starter is $16 a month and Lovable Pro is $21 a month. Base44 does not print a monthly-billing price, while Lovable Pro is $25 a month billed monthly. Both bill by credits, so your real cost depends on how much you build.
Do Base44 and Lovable have free plans?
Yes. Base44’s free plan gives 25 message credits a month and up to 5 apps. Lovable’s free plan gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month.
Can I use Base44 or Lovable without coding?
Yes. Base44 calls itself a no-code platform and Lovable lets you describe an app in plain English. You still need to test the result and check the details a real user would hit.
Can I export my code from Base44?
Base44 says two-way GitHub sync exports the full source code to your own repo. That feature is listed on the Builder, Pro and Elite plans, not on Starter or Free.
