Lovable vs Replit: Which AI App Builder Should You Use?

Lovable vs Replit comparison: pricing and which to pick

Short answer: In the Replit vs Lovable choice, pick Lovable if you want the fastest route from a prompt to a clean web app, with paid plans from $25 a month. Pick Replit if you want one place to build, test and host a web or mobile app, with paid plans from $20 a month. Both have a free way to start, so you can try each on the same idea before you pay.

Both tools turn plain English into a working app. You can read the full pricing on our Lovable page and our Replit Agent page. This post puts them side by side so you can see where they differ.

What is Lovable?

Lovable describes itself as a full-stack AI development platform. You describe an app in natural language and it generates the frontend, backend, database, sign-in and integrations, all backed by code you can edit. Each project can sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, so the code can leave Lovable whenever you want it to.

That makes it a good fit if you already know that a developer may pick the project up later. Our read: Lovable is the tidier handoff of the two.

What is Replit Agent?

Replit Agent builds apps and websites from a chat description. Replit says no coding experience is required. After the first build you keep giving feedback in chat, and the Agent tests the app in a browser and fixes the problems it finds. It comes with a built-in database and user sign-in, and it can connect to services such as Stripe and OpenAI.

It also creates checkpoints as it works, so you can roll back to an earlier state. You can build a mobile app next to the web app in the same project, and both share the same backend and data.

Lovable vs Replit pricing

Credits decide the real cost of both tools, so read the plan before you subscribe.

Lovable pricing

Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly Credits
Free $0 $0 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month
Pro $25 a month $250 a year ($21 a month) 100 a month on the entry tier, plus 5 a day
Business $50 a month $500 a year ($42 a month) 100 a month on the entry tier, plus 5 a day
Enterprise Contract Contract Volume-based

Both paid plans scale up to larger credit tiers. The 200 credit tier of Pro costs $50 a month, for example. If you run out, Pro lets you buy top-ups at $15 per 50 credits. Pro adds code editing and download, custom domains and credit rollovers, which the free plan does not have. Business adds single sign-on, the Lovable API and priority support.

Replit pricing

Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly What you get
Starter Free Free A free way to try the Agent
Core $20 a month $18 a month $20 credit toward stronger models, up to 30 hours of Free Mode chat
Pro $100 a month $90 a month $100 credit toward the strongest models, 10 parallel agents, up to 15 collaborators
Enterprise Custom Custom SSO/SAML and single-tenant environments

Replit works in modes. Free Mode covers everyday work within your plan’s allowance. Power and Max are paid modes for harder tasks, and Auto picks a model for you. That means a big project can cost more than the plan price alone. Replit also lets Core and Pro users buy extra credit packs.

Which one costs less?

At the entry level Replit is $5 a month cheaper, but the two plans are not measured the same way. Lovable charges in build credits per message, so a long chat on a growing app uses them up. Replit gives a dollar credit toward stronger models, so heavier modes drain it faster. Test both on the same small app and see which meter moves slower for you.

How credits work in practice

Lovable’s free plan resets every day: you get 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month). Unused daily credits expire at the end of the day. Paid plans add a monthly pool on top of the daily grant, and the daily grant has no monthly cap on Pro or Business. Monthly plan credits expire two months after they are issued, which is why Lovable can say credits roll over while you stay subscribed.

Replit works the other way round. You pay for the plan, and the plan includes a dollar credit you can spend on the stronger models in Auto, Power or Max. Everyday work in Free Mode stays inside your plan’s allowance. The practical result is that a short, simple project may never touch the paid modes, while a large one can use the whole credit quickly. Core and Pro users can buy more credit packs when that happens.

A fair way to test both

Do not judge either tool on its first screen. Use the same short brief in each, for example a booking page with a form, a database table and a confirmation email. Then compare three things: how many credits or how much credit the first working version used, how many follow-up messages it took to fix the problems, and whether you can see and understand the code. Ten minutes of that tells you more than any review, ours included.

Where Lovable wins

  • Clean web apps fast. One prompt gets you a styled, working app with a backend, database and sign-in.
  • Code you can take with you. Git sync is on every plan, including free.
  • Predictable credits. Unused monthly credits roll over on paid plans while you stay subscribed.
  • A simpler screen. There is less to configure, which suits designers and founders.

Where Replit wins

  • Build and host in one place. You describe the app, test it and publish it without another service.
  • Web and mobile together. A mobile app can sit next to the web app in one project.
  • More room to grow. Pro adds parallel agents and collaborators for teams.
  • Self-testing. The Agent checks its own work in a browser and fixes what it finds.

What neither does

Neither tool replaces a developer on a large product. Both can make mistakes, and Replit says the Agent’s behavior is probabilistic. Neither guarantees that the code is secure, so read the code before you collect payments or user data. If your work lives in a big existing codebase, a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor fits better. Our guide to Cursor vs Claude Code shows how those two differ.

Which should you choose?

  • You want a landing page or MVP this weekend: Lovable.
  • You want to build a mobile app too: Replit.
  • You expect to hand the code to a developer: Lovable, because of Git sync on every plan.
  • You want the lowest starting price: Replit Core, at $20 a month.
  • You are not sure: start both on the free plans with the same prompt and compare the results.
